Edo Japan Story
Just a reminder that I extended the due date for the Edo Japan story to Tuesday to account for the Science Test on Monday. Both classes will also have a period on Monday to add any finishing touches or revisions. From what I've seen so far it looks like there are some really interesting stories coming out of this! Enjoy the fact that we seem to be having a smoke-free weekend!
Also, there are still a couple of outstanding forms for the Vertigo Theater trip. Please make sure you return those to either myself or Mr. Badr on Monday.

Vertigo Theater
The assessment of risk form for Vertigo Theater went home yesterday. This is the 4th in a series of plays we have watched this year looking at worldview from different perspectives. Please sign and return the forms to your homeroom teacher ASAP. Other details for the field trip can be found on the letter attached to the form. Payment can be made through your MyCBE account.
We are also in need of parent volunteers please Email either Mr. Ibbitson or Mr. Badr if you are available.

Greetings from Mr. Badr
Hello Parents and Students!
My name is Ryan Badr and I have taken over as the math and science teacher for 8-3 and 8-4 as Mrs. Walsh has now started her maternity leave. With this past week being my first week with the students, it has been a transition time for all parties involved. We’ve discussed in class the adjustments and changes that this may mean to routines, and the students have been taking it in stride.
This week in science, the students continued with plant and animal cells, which was highlighted with an engaging field trip to Telus Spark. A big thank you to those parents who volunteered to come along!
In math, we worked with calculating percent values including discounts, sales tax and markup. Students who are going on the Quebec trip next week have been given a homework assignment that is expected to be completed once they come back to school. It contains some research so it would probably be beneficial to get started before they leave. Bon voyage!
I look forward to keeping open communication between parents so if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to email me at robadr@cbe.ab.ca.
Ryan Badr
